I'm probably partial but I believe the samoyed is one of the most beautiful of dogs. They are a medium size spitz type dog with an average weight around 60-70 pounds. They are all white in color and have a double layered coat.They carry there tails high in a curl up over their backs.
They are an ancient breed originating near the arctic north amongst the samoyed people. Samoyeds were used for pulling sleds, herding reindeer and as companions. Because of their friendly nature they often lived with their family and even slept amongst them to keep them warm.
Samoyeds are a breed full of energy and need lots of exercise. My own sammy named Kody is a constant bundle of energy. He loves to play and run. The downside to this is that in some cases they can be difficult to keep confined. Kody is especially good at digging and my yard has the holes to prove it.
The samoyed temperament is very friendly and they are wonderful with children. They do not make the best watch dogs however because of their sweet temperament.
